Bayern Munich President Uli Hoeness Sentenced To Jail For Tax Evasion

62 year old football legend and President of the World’s famous German Football Club, Bayern Munich, Uli Hoeness, has been sentenced to 3 years  and six months in prison after he was found guilty of evading €28.4 million ($39.6 million)  in taxes through an undeclared Swiss bank account.

Hoeness was initially charged with evading €3.5 million ($4.87 million) but that increased to $39.6 million during the trial.

BayernUli who is one of the powerful figures in German football was charged and sentenced to jail on Thursday March 13th by a German court. He was allowed to walk out of the court today because he has one week to decide whether to appeal the verdict.

The notice of appeal must be handed to the Supreme Court in Karlsruhe (the court that will deal with the case) by March 20.
