On the heels of a recent upgrade on their web version, cyber outlaws launched a virulent cyber attack on the website of foremost brand magazine, BRANDPOWER on Saturday October. The attack, which temporarily disabled the site, preventing the teeming visitors and guests from enjoying the rich content available on it, was successfully repelled by the Magazine’s technical consultants.
Speaking on the incident, the MD/ CEO of the Magazine, Mr. Nnanke Harry Willie expressed shock and dismay at the attack. He admitted that it came as a rude shock to him that unscrupulous nameless elements would hide behind anonymous computer screens and fraudulent IPs to carry out such a malicious attack on a public service organization. He praised the efforts of the technical department who worked tirelessly over the public holidays and at short notice to ensure that the site was brought back and made even better than its pre-attack status.
Continuing, he expressed his the magazine’s readiness to partner with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other relevant law enforcement agencies to route cyber-criminals and urged relevant stakeholders to put more effort in the fight to make the internet safer for use especially in a country like Nigeria that is experiencing a rapid growth spurt in internet penetration.
BRANPOWER, Nigeria’s leading brand magazine has recently been undergoing a rebranding of its web and printed editions to provide Nigerian brand owners and its teeming consumers and patrons a world-class platform for news, views, reportage and analysis that will make brands better and consumers happier.
