The Christian Association of Nigeria has called on the National Assembly to drop the proposed social media and hate speech bills saying that they are ploys to gag Nigerians. In a statement by the National Director, Legal and Public Affairs, CAN, Evang. Samuel Kwamkur in Abuja on Thursday, the CAN President, Dr Samson Ayokunle further urge the National Assembly to focus on legislation that could address insecurity, deplorable infrastructural amenities and the general welfare of the people.

The Cyber Security Experts Association of Nigeria, CSEAN, has said making social media managers personally liable for harmful content distributed on their platforms is a better option than the Anti-Social Media Bill the National Assembly was proposing.
