The Advertising community has been thrown into deep mourning as news of the shooting to death of Mr. Sesan Ogunro, founder and managing director of Eminent Communications on Sunday, December 22, spread through.

 

In a memo to advertising practitioners by Mr. Lekan Fadolapo, Executive Director of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) he said “It is with a heavy heart that I write to inform you of the sudden demise of Mr. Sesan Ogunro, the Chairman of AAAN Professional Practices and Government Relations Committees.  Fadolapo noted that “Until his death, he was also the Managing Director/CEO of Eminent Communications Limited, an Ikeja based agency as well as the Chairman of Ekiti State Broadcasting Corporation. According to the memo Sesan Oguro was shot by armed robbers yesterday, Sunday, 22nd December, 2013 at Jobi Fele Way, Alausa, Ikeja.

 

Mr. Sesan Ogunro had an illustrious career in advertising spanning about three decades. A Fellow of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria, APCON, he was one-time Chairman of APCON’s Advertising Standards Panel (ASP) and Chairman of APCON’s Membership & Privileges Committee. Sesan was also Chairman of Professional Practice Committee of Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria, AAAN.  He is survived by his wife, several children and grand-children some of whom, unfortunately, reportedly witnessed the senseless shooting of their patriarch by one of the suspected rampaging armed robbers on a holy harmattan Sunday evening. May his soul rest in peace.
