Nigeria’s first lady, Patience Jonathan is finally back in the Country and has made her first public appearance after her husband lost the just concluded presidential elections to General Muhammadu Buhari.
Mrs Jonathan visited her home town, Okrika in Rivers state Southern Nigeria to appreciate their support as she carried out her duty as the Nigerian First Lady.
Patience Jonathan called on the People of Okrika, to be ambassadors of Peace .
The visit was befitting as the people came out en-mass and welcomed her warmly with different cultural dance groups and women groups from the various communities that makes up Okirika town.
The people of Okrika who were overjoyed at their daughters arrival said she has done well in Nigeria both in the empowerment of the women in Nigeria and also in helping the less privileged in the town.
The people said they were proud of her as the first woman from that part of Nigeria to be the wife of a Nigerian President and how she assisted President Goodluck Jonathan to rule Nigeria with harmony.
Virginia Lamuno from Oburoma community in Okrika says“she is from this place and for now she is the number one citizen. As you can see everybody is happy. She has a good character, she is so good and a very nice person too. We are proud of her.”
Mrs Patience Baluchuba also from Okirika says “the first Lady’s coming today is very glorious, the atmosphere and even the town is colourful, everybody is happy. For the six years she has been on that throne with her husband, there has been no sickness, no problem and in all, this election was peaceful.
Dame Patience Jonathan using her local dialect thanked her people for the warm reception.
