For Bendel Insurance, the days in the woods might soon be over as Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State on Monday inaugurated a seven-man Interim Management Committee to manage the affairs of the club.
The governor who expressed disappointment at the club’s deteriorating status in recent years, charged the committee headed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, to restructure and reposition the team, while assuring them of full support from the state government.
“We have been troubled about the situation in Bendel Insurance, no matter how generous I want to be with myself. I can’t claim that we have done much or achieved anything significant in the area of repositioning the club. I am a football fanatic; it is sad that I have not been able to
demonstrate my passion for the game by taking the club to the top where it was before.” Bendel Insurance, fondly called Benin Arsenals currently ply their trade in the Nigeria Football league.
