No fewer than 50 brands from Nigeria – across the banking, oil and gas, and other sectors, have been nominated for various awards at the event, the World Brand Congress (WBC) 2013 tagged “Sustainable Brands” which comes up between October 21 and 23, 2013, at Taj Lands End Mumbai, India. This much was made known by the local representative of WBC, Mrs. Kofo Olaosebikan.
On the nomination of Nigerian brands for the congress, she said: “The WBC commissioned an independent and comprehensive survey of brands in Nigeria in order to identify the most socially responsible brands, which have made significant contributions to the socio-economic development of their respective communities. In alignment with the theme of this year’s congress, the WBC also gave premium consideration to sustainability branding and evaluated accordingly.
“Among the brands which scaled the rigourous nomination criteria from Nigeria under different categories include key players in the banking, oil and gas, manufacturing and other sectors of the national economy,” she said, adding that the quality and calibre of the nominations were a fitting tribute to the innovative initiatives that have defined the character of Nigerian brands.
