Finally, Enyeama’s Record-Breaking Run Ends

By Alphonsus E.W

Nigerian international and Lille shot-stopper, Vincent Enyeama finally conceded a goal in Lille OSC’s surprise 1-0 home defeat to Bordeaux in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday. Enyeama before now had gone a record 1,062 minutes without conceding a goal but fell painfully short of the all-time longest spell without conceding a goal of 1,176 goals held by Gaetan Huard during the 1992/93 season. The goal which came after teammate Simon Kjaer deflected a Landry N’Guemo shot was scored in the 27th minute thereby ending a remarkable 14 game clean sheet record.
