The acting executive vice chairman said the Commission had dragged a generator company, Mikano International Limited to court for obstruction of their investigations.

He said the company was also charged for failure to comply with legitimate requests in order to frustrate investigations.

”The charges are with respect to the company’s actions during the execution of the search warrant.

”The Commission proceeded in the investigation and investigatory efforts including securing the order because of a high prioritisation of the electricity industry from a primary production and alternative sources standpoints.

”Power, and the cost thereof, is vital and critical to businesses, households, particularly small businesses and vulnerable households and any practice(s) that exploits or negatively affects consumers is of concern.

”That investigation is currently at various stages.

”The charges alleged violations of Sections 28(5), 33, 110 and 111 of the Federal Competition & Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) which provide and mandate companies to comply and be transparent in investigative procedures,” he said.

Abdullahi said the Commission recognised the prevailing hardship experienced by consumers and business operators, saying that compliance to lawful requests would bring about market stability.
