CHANGE IN MILITARY TACTICS: JONATHAN APPOINTS NEW DEFENSE CHIEFS

In what could be seen as a tactical change in the brand Nigeria’s military approach to insurgents, President Goodluck Jonathan has installed the former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Alex Badeh, as the Chief of Defence Staff. He replaces Admiral Ola Ibrahim.

This was revealed today by the President’s spokesman Reuben Abati. Other changes include: Major-General Kenneth Tobiah Jacob Minimah replacing Lt.-General Azubike O. Ihejirika as Chief of Army Staff.

Rear Admiral Usman O. Jibrin replaces Vice Admiral Dele Joseph Ezeoba as Chief of Naval Staff; while Air Vice Marshal Adesola Nunayon Amosu takes over from Air Marshal Badeh as Chief of Air Staff. All the changes are with immediate effect.
