‘it’s fake news’, gtb says hackers didn't seize website, steal customers’ dataGuaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), one of Nigeria’s leading commercial banks, has debunked stories making the rounds that its website had been seized by hackers.

A top GTB executive, who is not authorized to speak, disclosed this to DAILY POST exclusively.

The clarification came amid a report on Wednesday that GTBank’s website had been compromised by hackers and customers’ data intercepted in a massive phishing operation.

However, the source told DAIlLY POST that the claim was entirely untrue.

He clarified that GTBank was having a connectivity issue but that it had nothing to do with hacking.

“It’s false. What we are experiencing is a connectivity issue and has nothing to do with the alleged hacking”.

 

Earlier, Peoples’ Gazzette broke the story that suspected cybercriminals appeared to have compromised the domain address of Nigeria’s banking giant GTBank.
