Mr. Segun Olatunji, the Editor of First News Online Newspaper has been released by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA). This is coming after about two weeks in custody,

Olatunji was reportedly whisked away by 10 armed men in his home at Iyana Odo, Abule Egba area of Lagos State.

The security goons were masked with the number plates of their vehicles covered up.

Multiple checks by his families, Nigeria Union of Journalists and Nigerian National Committee of the International Press Institute (IPI Nigeria) confirmed that he was taken into custody by the Defence Intelligence Agency.

He was released to the General Secretary of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, Mr. Iyobosa Uwugiaren and the Deputy Editor (Nation’s Capital) of THE NATION Newspapers, Mr. Yomi Odunuga under a bridge in Asokoro.

Several calls and appeals were made to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to activate the powers of his office as Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces to direct the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, to produce Segun.

All the documents for his release were signed inside a security vehicle with heavily armed operatives.
