A firm, Kairos Hof Consultants Ltd., has unveiled plans to provide affordable and low cost houses for young Nigerians, saying that the youth are not well captured in the housing structure of the country.

The Managing Director of Kairos Hof Consultants Limited, Mr Olagoke Fagbohun, disclosed this at a news conference in Abuja on Tuesday.

BRANDPOWER reports that Kairos Hof Consultants is building the houses under the “Z-Korting”  and “HofCity”  Projects.

Meanwhile, Fagbohun said that he would start building the affordable and low cost housing units with 17 blocks of five-storey buildings with approximately 100 plus apartments.

He said that the target was geared towards meeting the yearnings and demand of young Nigerians who make up 60 per cent of the country’s populations.

“In terms of deliverables, first of all, we are starting with 17 block for the first cluster. 17 blocks of five story buildings providing approximately 100 plus apartments so that we can launch the first phase of this project and meet our demand.

“Secondly, we need media support to enlighten people about this. We can only do that with the collaboration of media houses.

“In terms of making sure people enjoy the quality of what we intend to provide, the simply thing to do is to make sure the information is out there, and what this means is that we are going to do a lot of publicity about it,” he said.

Fagbohun said that the Z-Korting Project was targeted at young fresh minds and would be built in Idu, Karmo, Jahi and Cafe City, Gwarinpa respectively.

Mr Ojehomon Anetor, Director Business Development/CEO, Kairos Hof Ltd., who spoke a little about the firm, stated that the firm is a Dutch-Nigerian company investing in real estate and energy in both Nigeria and the Netherlands.

He said that the firm had been able to design a concept that fits the cultural values of the country in terms of housing matters based on its experience of what its looks like outside Nigeria.

“From our experience of what housing looks like outside Nigeria, we have been able to design a concept that fits our cultural values.

“We have gotten a clear concept that gives an understanding of housing issue and what you need to provide for your client.

“The system of housing abroad is quite different from what we currently have here in Nigeria.

“We want to make sure that whoever is buying a house, is buying a house that gives them the right type of comfort and support that they need to exist, live, work, eat and play in one space,” Anetor said.

He stated that the stress and difficulties in securing housing had made so many couples to reduce the number of children they plan to have, a situation, he said, “was different during the period of our parents and great grand parents”.

Anetor said that the firm is directly working with the works and housing ministry to make sure that the housing is more affordable and meets the requirements of Abuja populations.
