Democracy day: uzodinma urges imo citizens on renewed faith
Gov. Hope uzodinma of imo

Gov. Hope Uzodinma of Imo has urged residents to renew their faith in democracy, insisting that the country was already making progress in that direction despite all odds.

Uzodinma made the call in his Democracy Day statement made available to newsmen by his Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser, Mr Oguwike Nwachuku on Monday.

The governor, who advised residents of the state to join other Nigerians to renew their faith in the system, described democracy as the “best form of government”.

He acknowledged that democracy might not have solved all the challenges facing the country but noted that a lot of milestones had been achieved since the return of democratic dispensation in 1999.

He expressed satisfaction that a lot of progress had been recorded under democratic rule from January 2020 when he was sworn in till date in the state.

Uzodinma therefore called on Imo residents to rededicate themselves to the efforts to strengthen and sustain democracy irrespective of imperfections inherent in the system.

He assured that the freedom of choice, assembly and association embedded in democracy would always put that system of government above any other.

While wishing the people a memorable 2023 Democracy Day, the governor pledged to always avail them democracy dividends within available resources. (NAN)
