Nitda partners acm to train indigenous creatorsNational Information Technology Development Agency  (NITDA), said the Federal Government would partner with Africa Creative Market (ACM), to train creators on use of emerging technologies.

This is in order to identify and build the teeming talents in Nigeria’s creative industry.

The Director-General, NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, said this on Wednesday, in Lagos that FG would  partner  to create talents and boost the region’s creative capabilities.

Inuwas said that FG would as well strategically place creators at the forefront of technologically-driven businesses in the African continent.

Inuwa made this known while giving a keynote address on “The Importance of Tech. in the Creative Industry”, at the Africa Creative Market (ACM) event.

He said that emerging technologies were disrupting the way humans produce, distribute and consume content and that the creator of content remains central to everything.

The D-G said  that Federal Government, through NITDA, was ready to partner with ACM to create talents and train Nigerians  on how to use emerging technologies to excel and thrive in all their innovations.

According  to him,  plans were  already underway to train one million app developers in the next 18 months.

“We are partnering with ACM after this summit to train you on Metaverse, artificial intelligence, blockchain and many more.

‘’We are identifying people that need the training and will get the best trainers in the world to come and train the trainers,” he said.

Inuwa encouraged  African creators to be part of the crop of people who would create Metaverse, ”as the days of playing the catch-up game by Africa were over.”

He said that the creation of Metaverse would help achieve three things, to ensure ownership and protect copyright, to create income and to put indigenous creators on the global stage.

Inuwa, while emphasizing on the value emerging technologies come with, encouraged the audience to position themselves toward creating value from the emerging technologies.

According to him, there was a lot of research  that Metaverse would add between $5-13 trillion  to the global GDP by 2030.

He said that was the reason for the ACM event and government’s  partnership  to help build talents and support the course of building the Metaverse.

Inuwa said that with Metaverse, users would have the sense of emersion and it would help Africans  tell  indigenous stories to the rest of the world, while also capturing the needed value.

The 2022 ACM programme focused on training and empowering youths in creative technologies and covered different areas including: Animation, games and metaverse.
