Eedc lauds s/east residents for supporting fight against vandals

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has lauded the South-East residents for supporting its fight against electricity installation vandals within the zone.

The EEDC’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mr Emeka Ezeh, gave the commendation in a statement on Wednesday in Enugu.

Ezeh said that the EEDC appreciated the efforts of residents in helping to apprehend vandals within the zone.

He noted that the development showed that the appeal made by the EEDC for customers involvement in protecting electrical installations within their neighbourhood was yielding the desired result.

He said: “The activities of vandals have been a very big challenge to the company and it is now on the rise as no day passes by without reports of vandalised installation.

“This situation continues to subject our customers to untold hardship and inconveniences, keeping them out of supply for a long time till the vandalised transformer is repaired and supply restored.”

Ezeh noted that the company had consistently committed scarce resources to replacement of vandalised equipment, adding that the situation was no longer sustainable.

“We also commend law enforcement agencies and the judiciary, whose work also serve as a deterrent to other individuals engaging in such criminal acts.

“We are calling on customers to continue to join hands with us to ensure that the electricity installations within their vicinity are not attacked by vandals,” he appealed.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the EEDC franchise operating areas are Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo.
