Nigeria’s Super Eagles has posted a 1-0 victory against Egypt as the Group D games of the 33rd Africa Cup of Nations kicked off Tuesday in Garoua.

Kelechi Iheanacho’s goal 30th-minute goal was the only goal of the game with a shot into the top-left corner of the goalpost. The Leicester City’s attacker scored the brilliant through an assist from fellow attacker Taiwo Awoniyi who gave a good account of himself in his international debut as he narrowly scored the Super Eagles’ second goal in the 37th and 41st minutes but was stopped by Egypt’s goalkeeper, El Shenawy.

Super Eagles dominated the first half of the game and Egypt’s attempt at a spirited come-back was easily kept in check by the Super Eagles who played under interim coach Austin Eguavoen for the first time.

Mo Salah caused a scare in the 70th minute which was narrowly saved by goalkeeper Maduka Okoye.

The Super Eagles played brilliantly under the instructions of interim coach, Austin Eguavoen to the delight of many Nigerian fans.
