More Woes for Siasia as Ban Appeal Demands N36 million

Former Super Eagles player and manager Samson Siasia ran into yet another trouble after revealing that he needed to pay about 100,000 Swiss francs before Court of Arbitration for Sports will hear his appeal.

The 52-year-old was banned for life from all football activities by FIFA in August after being accused of match-fixing with a Singaporean Wilson Raj Perumal.

After the news broke, Siasia pleaded not guilty to the crimes alleged to him, adding that he was not given an opportunity to clear his name from the scandal.

The 2016 Rio Olympics bronze medal winning coach still needs N50 million to pay the ransom kidnappers who have his mother in custody.

His mum was abducted for the second time in Bayelsa three months ago and a chance to get her back is proving difficult.

While speaking to newsmen recently, the embattled tactician said: “CAS said we have to pay 100,000 Swiss francs.

“That’s almost a 100,000 to start the Appeal. It’s crazy! But if I don’t pay before the 10th of October, my appeal will be off their schedule,” Siasia said.

He added that: “My mum is with kidnappers for almost three months now, friends and my government in Bayelsa have abandoned me.

“At this stage, I have decided to take my case to President Muhammadu Buhari since I have exhausted all other avenues and they are yielding anything,” he said.

Siasia has made his impact for Nigerian teams after winning silver medal for the Flying Eagles in 2005 and proceeded to win Olympics silver with the U-23 team in Beijing in 2008.

In 2016, he also won bronze for the country’s Dream Team in Brazil before the match fixing allegation was brought upon him in 2019.

BRANDPOWER earlier reported that Samson Siasia, former Super Eagles coach, is reportedly sliding into depression having failed to re-unite with his mother after about ten weeks since her disappearance.

The mother of the 52-year-old tactician was kidnapped about three months ago alongside two others and all efforts to free them from the abductors are fruitless at the moment.

Siasia, who was recently handed a life ban by FIFA over alleged match-fixing, recently pleaded with the government to help him recover his aged mum from the kidnappers den.
