Amazon Advertising launches in Australia

Amazon advertising launches in australiaAmazon has launched Amazon Advertising in Australia, giving local advertisers and agencies access to its full suite of products.

Amazon Advertising will in other to help businesses extend the reach of their advertising campaigns, offer display and video ads as well as Amazon’s demand side platform, according to a blog post by the company.

The tools will be available to advertising and agencies regardless of whether they sell on the site and will deliver messages to consumers both on and off Amazon’s site.

The roll-out follows the long-awaited launch of Amazon.com.au last December, which Amazon claims attracts millions of unique monthly visitors.

Amazon revenues passed the $10bn mark last year with advertising one of e-commerce giant’s fastest growing business segments. Analyst estimates suggested advertising accounted for around $6bn in revenues for Amazon last year.

The launch of Amazon’s ad unit in Australia comes as ad rivals Google and Facebook face increased pressure from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) digital platforms inquiry, which is expected to urge the government to apply greater regulation to the global giants.
