UK High Commission collaborates with Nigerian brokers to enhance insurance

Nigeria’s High Commissioner to United Kingdom (UK), Mr Sarafa Isola, has expressed readiness to help publicise the services of members of the Nigeria Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB).

A statement by NCRIB on Monday in Lagos said Isola gave the assurance during a visit by a delegation of the NCRIB, led by its President, Mr Rotimi Edu, to the Nigeria High Commission in the UK.

The NCRIB delegates were in the UK to attend the 2022 British Insurance Brokers (BIBA) Conference in Manchester.

Isola noted that Brexit had opened more windows of opportunities for Nigeria to vigorously pursue business relationships with the UK, which included services such as insurance.

The high commissioner lauded insurance brokers for continuously making more Nigerians to embrace insurance.

He expressed delight at the changing face of insurance and its contribution to Nigeria’s economic development.

In his address, the NCRIB’s president, sought the support and collaboration of the the Nigeria High Commission in the area of trade relationship.

Edu noted that the industry was getting over the challenges of inadequate capital and insufficient professional expertise to handle huge risks.

He noted that the Nigerian insurance industry shared a heritage with the UK and as such got inspiration from the importance attached to insurance by the UK government and citizens/residents.

The NCRIB’s president stated that the council was open to more collaboration with UK institutions, as insurance was a global profession and business.

According to Edu, NCRIB, under the present leadership, has priotised strategic engagements both locally and internationally.
