The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it will henceforth embark on door-to-door campaigns to woo votes for President Goodluck Jonathan and other PDP candidates in the forthcoming general elections scheduled for March 28 and April 11, 2015, VON reports.

The party also said that the door-to-door campaign which is aimed at mobilising voters would also be supported through social media publicity.

It added that the party has obtained reliable data on every registered voter in Nigeria.

This was announced by the Deputy Director General of PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, Professor Tunde Adeniran at a training workshop organised for the party’s delegates drawn from states of the federation in Abuja Nigeria’s capital,

Professor Adeniran  said “in some states President Jonathan’s achievements are under sold while in some it is not sold at all”.

The training workshop, which was organised by the Directorate of Contact and Mobilisation, PDP Campaign Organisation, is targeting about 600,000 people who will promote President Jonathan’s  Transformation Agenda in the grassroots.

Professor Adeniran who declared the workshop open, noted that the party was facing a major problem due to its inability to propagate the achievements of President Jonathan to the citizenry in the last four years.

He therefore challenged the participants to publicise the achievements of the president to ensure a successful outing come March 28.

Also, the Director, Contact and Mobilisation, Prof Jerry Gana said the final phase of the presidential campaign was designed to focus on grassroots mobilisation and voter education at ward and polling unit levels.

Prof Gana who described the workshop as train-the-trainers programme said that an average of three delegates were selected from each state of the country and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)‎.  They are expected to in turn hold training sessions in their different states on March 16 at  ward-level.

“This intensive beehive campaign strategy is designed to saturate each ward and polling unit with positive messages about Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, and his running mate, Arc. Mohammed Namadi Sambo.

“In addition to this door-to-door and person-to-person strategy,‎ Operation Deliver Your Ward will be fully supported by several social media platforms designed to interact directly with every registered voter”, Prof Gana stated.

He added that the Operation Deliver Your Ward will focus on voter mobilisation, voter education, voter motivation and voter monitoring on election day.
