The Federation of Registered Nollywood Guilds and Associations (FRENGAN) has described late filmmaker, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe as a woman of great intellect, vision and courage.The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that late Anyiam-Osigwe was the National Chairman of FRENGAN until her death, and founder of the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).
She died on Monday after a brief illness at the St. Nicholas Hospital in Lagos at the age of 54.
Dr Ahmad Sarari, Vice Chairman of FRENGAN in a statement through tbe National Public Relations Officer, Mr Emeka Rollas, expressed shock over the demise of Anyiam-Osigwe.
“It is with complete shock and disbelief that we received the news of the sudden demise of our sister, colleague, friend and chairman of the Federation, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, who passed on to eternal glory on Monday.
“FRENGAN offers most profound condolences to the family, friends and the entire Nollywood practitioners for her passing.
“She had been a valued member of our Federation and will be missed.
“She was a woman of great intellect, vision and courage who contributed immensely to the cause of Nollywood development.
“She dedicated herself to building bridges to a better future and in this way, she touched the lives of all of us,” he said.
Sarari said late Anyiam-Osigwe was a dedicated and passionate advocate for the development of the noble Nollywood industry.
“Our grief and confusion at this time are little compared to what Peace’s family must be feeling, so our hearts and prayers go out to them.
“The entire heads of Nollywood guilds and associations join her family, friends and colleagues in mourning not only the loss of our dear colleague but also the loss of a very dedicated and passionate advocate, who speaks for the development of our noble industry.
“It has been an honor for us at the Federation to have late Peace as our chairman and to have worked with her.
“Her positive attitude and desire to be of service to others, even during her darkest hours, has touched us all, our best wishes to her family during this difficult time,” he said.
