nffFollowing the refusal of Globacom to renew its sponsorship deal with the apex football-governing body in the country, the Nigeria Football Federation NFF has begun moves to secure a new telecommunications partner.
Disclosing this in a Communique issued after a meeting of its Executive Committee held weekend at Hotel Le Meridien, Uyo, the NFF mandated its sub-committee on marketing to open discussion with prospective partners in the telecommunication sector, with a view to getting a new partner.

According to a statement signed by Chairman, Media and Publicity Committee, Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande, the Board said, “Following the expiration of the partnership agreement between the Federation and leading telecommunication company, Globacom Nigeria Limited, and the recommendation of the Marketing, Sponsorship and Television Advisory Sub–Committee, the Board commended the company for its wonderful service in support of Nigerian Football for over 10 years, during which it enabled the growth of the game at different sectors and levels. “Noting that the telecommunication company had failed to reply to an offer of first refusal as contained in the contract over the period stipulated, the Board mandated the Sub–Committee to open discussions with prospective partners in that sector with a view to a new partnership agreement”. The Executive Committee also  approved December 13, 2016 as the date for the 72nd Annual General Assembly in Lagos.
