Ivory Coast Dethrones Nigeria As Champions Of Africa

Ivory Coast on Sunday dethroned Nigeria as African Champions after edging Ghana  in a dramatic penalty shootout in the Nations Cup final.

Veteran goalkeeper Copa Barry was the hero as he saved a penalty and then got up and scored for his team.

After the cup final ended goalless after 120 minutes of tense football, the penalty shootout went to sudden death and in the end the Ivorians won 9-8 with goalkeeper Copa Barry netting the decisive kick.

Ghana can however take consolation in their individual awards. Midfielder Christian Atsu was named the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations most valuable player player and also won the best goal of the tournament .

Ghana deputy captain Andre Ayew won the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations top scorer prize with three goals. The Olympique Marseille man also doubled as the player with the highest number of assists.
