No fewer than 30 vehicles, 20 buildings and other properties, estimated at millions of naira, were on Tuesday destroyed by irate youths from Odekpe and Ogbaru in Anambra.
The destructions followed an election conducted by the landlords’ association in the community.
An eyewitness account said trouble started when the landlords in the area conducted election on Monday for those who will pilot their affairs in the area.
It said the process apparently did not go down well with Odekpe youths who stormed the place, destroying chairs, tables, electoral materials, vehicles, buildings, among others.”
The landlords who insisted on conducting the election, changed the election venue where they successfully conducted the election and Mr Sunday Obinze, was declared the winner.
Dissatisfied with the successful conduct of the election that produced Obinze as the President of the landlords association, Ogbaru youths went on rampage, destroyed vehicles and buildings, among others.
In his reaction, the newly-elected President, Obinze, said that some youths stormed his house, set his car ablaze, smashed the glass windows, doors, and collected the sum of N3.5 million meant for workers.
