In line with the public-private partnership initiative of the government, Guaranty Trust Bank plc and Access Bank plc have built and donated a waiting lounge for Ikoyi passport office of the Nigerian Immigration Service.

With this donation, applicants will no longer queue in the sun or hang around in the environment while waiting for their passports but rather they can now sit comfortably while waiting for their passports.

The hall which can accommodate over 300 applicants at a time is furnished with comfortable facilities. Some applicants have expressed joy at the efforts of the two banks, saying it will enhance the service delivery of the Ikoyi passport office.

Meanwhile, the NIS has been ordered to deliver 24 hours passport procurement target by next year in order to key into the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan in reforming the economy.

Group managing director of GT Bank, Segun Agbaje gave a remark at the official commissioning of the hall at the Ikoyi passport office  and he said that the bank built and donated the facility in line with the public-private partnership initiative of the government, adding that with the private sector support to government, a lot can be achieved.

Agbaje reiterated GT Bank’s willingness to partner more with the government through the PPP model.
