VISION & MISSION  

Food, Agro & Allied Industries Ltd was incorporated in 2001 to manifest Sona Group’s “Ideology of Indigenization” about developing credible technology to process locally grown Sorghum to substitute imported Barley derivatives.

The mission is to produce Sorghum malt and malt derivatives of international quality at affordable cost, augmenting agric, industrial, scientific and economic growth of the nation.

THE PLANT SET UP & PRODUCTS

FOOD AGRO & ALLIED INDUSTRIES LTD, known as “FOOD & AGRO”, started commercial operation in 2008 as a Sorghum Malting Plant to collaborate with Government program for substitution of imported Barley malt with locally grown Sorghum malt. The completely mechanized Malting plant has capacity to process 30,000 tons of Sorghum annually. Additional equipment to expand the capacity to 45,000 tons per annum is already on site.

FOOD & AGRO’s state-of-the-art Malt Extract plant was commissioned in December 2014. This fully automated ultra-modern plant can produce 25,000 tons of Malt Extract, High maltose syrup, Glucose, Brewing Extract and other sweeteners annually, from malted and raw sorghum. Capacity can be enhanced to 33,000 tons per annum with addition of few more equipment. This plant is the only one of its kind in Nigeria and will contribute immensely in reducing importation of Malt Extract, HMS, Glucose etc into the country.

20,000ton Silo storage with proper cleaning system at FOOD & AGRO premises in Sango-Ota and another 20,000ton storage silos available for installation in procurement centre in the north, will assist Government’s Strategic Food Grain Storage program.

QUALITY & FOOD SAFETY STANDARDS

FOOD & AGRO adheres to the highest standards of Quality and Food Safety Management system in production of food ingredients and got ISO 9001:2008 (QMS), SEDEX A&B, ISO 22000:2005(FSMS-HACCP) certifications in 2010, 2011 and 2014 respectively.   FOOD & AGRO is the only Heineken International Approved Maltster in Nigeria.

MALTED SORGHUM: For energy food, alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages.

PREMIUM QUALITY MALT EXTRACT, GLUCOSE SYRUP & HIGH MALTOSE SYRUP: For brewing, biscuit, confectioneries and beverages.

BREWER’S EXTRACT-HIGH FERMENTABILITY & GLUTEN FREE: For production of beer and malt drinks.

Sorghum extract/Malt syrups produced by enzymatic conversion of grains is rich in nutrients, vitamins & minerals which most imported syrups lack.

NEW PRODUCTS TO LAUNCH: Roasted/speciality malt, Dry malt extract (malt Sugar), Caramel colour, Animal feed/ingredients.

FOOD & AGRO provides Sorghum grain cleaning and storage services along with supply of pre-cleaned Sorghum.

ANIMAL FEEDS AND ORGANIC MANURES

We will also provide Chaffs, Floaters , spent grains and rootlets which are very nutritious for animal feed, Or Ingredients to produce compost for organic forming.
