EFCC Arrests Fake Army General Who shot at EndSARS Protesters for Alleged N270m Fraud

It would be recalled that the suspect, Bolarinwa Oluwasegun, was reported to have shot repeatedly at EndSARS protesters in 2020 claiming to be an APC chieftain and major Buhari supporter. He gave no inkling then that he had an even much darker side.

Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC, have arrested one Bolarinwa Oluwasegun, a fake Army General, for an alleged N270m fraud.

The suspect, who posed as a General in the Nigerian Army, allegedly made false representations to the complainant, Kodef Clearing Resources, that the President, Muhammadu Buhari, had shortlisted him and one other to be appointed as the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, and that he needed a short grant “to press and process the appointment.”

He also allegedly forged a letter of appointment as COAS purportedly signed by the President and showed the same to the victim to further prove his claim.

He was arrested at his house in the Alagbado area of Lagos State on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.

Upon his arrest, six pump action guns, three cartridge bullets, a swagger stick and several forged documents were recovered from him.

The suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigations have been concluded.

It would be recalled that the suspect, Bolarinwa Oluwasegun, was reported to have shot repeatedly at EndSARS protesters in 2020 claiming to be an APC chieftain and major Buhari supporter. He gave no inkling then that he had an even much darker side.

The journalist who recorded Mr. Oluwasegun’s bizarre shooting spree, 20-year old Pelumi Onifade, went missing for several days before he was later found dead in police custody.

It remains unclear why despite the clamour by Nigerians and the plethora of evidence that exposed Mr Oluwasegun of having committed a crime, he was neither arrested nor prosecuted by the Nigerian police.
