BRANDPARISON CROSSOVER WARS: 2020 RAV 4 VS 2020 HONDA CR-V

0

Crossovers offer the features of a sedan without sacrificing key benefits of an SUV. For a good number of years, the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V have dominated and defined this class.

According to the Toyota Company, the aim of the RAV4 was to mix the light off-road capability of an SUV with the on-road comfort of a car. Combining the best of both worlds, Toyota debuted the first crossover compact SUV in the USA, the RAV4, in North America in 1995 for the 1996 model year.

Honda unveiled the CR-V a year later in 1996 for the 1997 model year in Japan at Honda Verno dealerships only and was regarded as a luxury vehicle in Japan due to the exterior width dimensions exceeding Japanese Government dimension regulations.

VERDICT:

These pioneer crossovers are both highly dependable and reliable. Both models have a reputation for quality and offer relative comfort and versatility. They both also offer almost similar features in the areas of fuel economy, maximum cargo space, warranty and safety ratings. But, the 2020 Toyota RAV4 has an edge over the 2020 Honda CR-V with its Adventure Trim and TRD packages as well as excellent optional sound system which makes it more fun to drive. The RAV 4 is also a rugged imitation of the 4Runner which gives it another edge over the CR-V in the exterior department.  However, the CR-V is also a comfortable ride with its front headroom and rear legroom and lower prices at higher trim levels even though its only negative seems to be its older infotainment system, which isn’t as easy to use.  Therefore, it is best to say while one can’t really go wrong with either, the RAV4 has a higher advantage with its optional off-road chops.
