The series of scandals rocking the aviation brand is taking its toll on the brand with the federal government slashing the ministry’s budget for 2014 by N9.3 billion. The ministry’s 2014 budget proposals currently before the National Assembly reveals that N32.3bn has been allocated to it as against the N42.1bn budgeted for the sector last year.

Analysis of the proposal also reveals that parastatals such as the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria and the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency are without allocation.

Nigerian Meteorological Agency got a proposal of N3.56bn; Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, got N3.21bn, while the Accident Investigation Bureau, has N2.53bn. The parent ministry has a proposal of N22bn, while most of the outstanding sum is earmarked for the acquisition of fixed assets.
