2nd Nigerian Lubricants Summit starts Tuesday

All is set for the 2015 edition of the Nigerian Lubricants Summit scheduled for Tuesday, 24 November to Thursday, 26 November, 2015 at the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos.

The 3-day international summit is expected to have dignitaries and renowned professionals in the Oil and Gas Industry as lead speakers, including the newly appointed Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu who is the Keynote Speaker.

Dr. Kachikwu will enlighten the public on the topic “Repositioning the Nigerian Petroleum Industry as a Global Giant – Opportunities, Prospects and Challenges”, with a sub topic “Lubricants Industry as a key component to drive the nation’s economy, reports PM News”.

According to Mr. Tola Odusote of CMC Connect Burson-Marsteller, the communications consultants to the Nigerian Lubricants Summit, the three-day international conference will feature exhibition of goods and services and a dinner.

The event will be chaired by the former Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Izoma Chief P.C. Asiodu, CFR.

Other Guests of Honour include: Alhaji Jani Ibrahim, Chairman, Lubcon International Group, and Sir (Dr) Alex Chika Okafor, Chairman, A-Z Petroleum Limited.

Other resource persons are Dr. Joseph Odumodu, Director General, Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON; Mrs R. O. Adeeko, Principal Partner Fraals Consultant Limited; Mr Tobi Oduyale, Managing Director, Winelight Laboratory & Equipment Limited; En­gr. Panelists are selected from among base oil suppliers, members MOMAN, IPMAN and LUPAN.

The summit themed, Quality Lubricants: Key to Techno-Economic and Industrial Development of Nigeria, is being organised in conjunction with the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) and the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON).

Explaining the choice of the theme of the summit, Engr. Kayode Sote FNSE, Principal Partner, Lubeservices Associates, and Technical Consultants on the project, said that “the imperatives of the technical and commercial challenges of the Nigerian Lubricant market informed the need to focus on Lubricants quality, its sustainability, compliance and enforcement as theme for this year’s edition.

“The summit will have as sub themes: Quality Lubricants and Energy Conservation; Quality Lubricants and Cost-effective Maintenance of Plant and Machinery; Quality Lubricants: Key to Environmental Pollution Control and Management.

“This year, we have participants and exhibitors coming from among key players in the Nigerian Lubricants market, Lube producers from Dubai, India and Russia.”

It aims among others to promote a better understanding and appreciation of the nation’s hydrocarbon reserves and diverse investment opportunities, and also to present the investment profiles of lube manufacturers and their commitment to sustainable job creation in order to contribute to the economic growth of the nation.
