In recognition of his reforms in Nigeria’s farming sector, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, has been named Forbes African of the Year. The minister beat the likes of Aliko Dangote, Jim Ovia, South Africa’s Patrice Motsepe, and Zimbabwe’s Strive Masiyiwa, to the award, whit Forbes Africa’s Editor, Mr. Chris Bishop, describing Adesina as “A man on a mission to help Africa feed itself.”
While receiving his award, Adesina said his ultimate goal is to improve the face of farming and make billionaires out of Nigerian farmers “My goal is to make as many millionaires, maybe even billionaires, from agriculture as possible,” he said.
