Since his exclusion from the national team by Stephen Keshi, on disciplinary grounds, Osaze Odemwingie has continued divide opinions across the land. Last week, he scored in Cardiff City’s 2-3 loss to West Ham in the Capital One Cup. He was also on target in his team’s 1-2 home loss to Newcastle United on Saturday in the English Premier League. With his new-found form in front of goal, fans and pundits alike have renewed the heated debate as to legitimacy of his inclusion or exclusion from the senior national team set up.
Although the team’s top scorer at the Nations Cup, Emmanuel Emenike has returned from a long injury lay-off, and players like Sone Aluko and Uche Nwofor have impressed in their respective clubs, the team had struggled to score goals at both the Confederations Cup in Brazil and in the World Cup qualifiers and with the World Cup looming, it is a worrying sign.
POSERS: 1. Will Osaze Odemnwingie’s return to the National team at this time be best for Nigeria?
2. Should his propensity to create dressing room unrest be overlooked in favour of his renewed goal scoring ability?
